However, the 7.3 Power Stroke is prone to its fair share of problems and failures. The above list of 9 problems certainly isn't exhaustive as other things can go wrong. I’ve been looking for a diesel powered tow vehicle, preferably something older, cheaper, and mechanical. In my area decent condition Super Duties with a 7.3 are all listed at $8000+, but an E-series van with a 7.3 is listed for $4500 (150k miles, good condition). Other than the fact that vans aren’t as cool, is there any downside to going for the van? Obviously can’t have a gooseneck, but other than that is there anything I should be aware of?
